Demo import and reset

Northline Learning Studio is one coherent fictional demo, not four shallow sites. It includes eight programmes, five instructors, six sessions, six resource posts, controlled taxonomy terms and the native pages needed to exercise the theme.

The imported WordPress Site Title is Lumina Edu. Header and footer use the editable Site Title block, so both show the same product name. Northline Learning Studio is only the fictional provider described by the demo's page content.

Before importing

• Import on a new or backed-up site.
• Activate Lumina Edu and Lumina Edu Core.
• Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for One Click Demo Import, choose Install Now, then Activate. It is optional unless you want the Northline starter content.
• Confirm the host allows outbound HTTPS if preview media will be fetched.
• Read the import summary. Import never runs merely because a theme or plugin was activated.

Import Northline from the dashboard

1. Go to Appearance → Import Demo Data.
2. With the single Northline definition visible, choose Import Demo Data.
3. Review the importer screen, then choose Continue & Import. Leave the browser tab open until One Click Demo Import reports Import Complete!.
4. Open the front page and Programs, Instructors and Sessions before replacing the fictional facts.

Those labels are from One Click Demo Import 3.4.1, the optional importer tested for this release. The importer adds marked demo records, sets Home and Resources as the front/posts pages, sets a navigation menu and permalink structure, and stamps relative session dates in the site's timezone. It does not create users, payment records or real registrations. Demo action buttons use reachable example.com destinations carrying a clearly named demo query. Following one only proves the cross-site handoff; it does not register a learner, send a message or reserve a seat.

Preview media is fetched remotely and is not included in the downloadable packages. Text content still imports if media is unavailable; the import result names every media file that failed and suggests a retry.

The asset ledger records 21 generated source images. Northline currently references 20 of them and deliberately leaves one resource post without an image, so that post proves the typographic fallback. The remaining generated source is marked unused and is not an importer input.

What the import does to WordPress's own sample content

A fresh WordPress ships with one sample post, Hello world!, and one sample page, Sample Page. The importer moves both to the bin, so the demo's own posts are not sitting beside content nobody wrote. It does this only while they are untouched: the original post with its installed slug, still published, and never edited. Rename one, edit one, or publish over one, and it is yours and stays. Nothing is deleted outright — both sit in the bin until you empty it, and the sample comment goes to the bin with the post.

The import result on the dashboard says how many of the two were moved, along with the rest of its counts: records created, updated, skipped because this site already had them, and failed. A second import of the same demo reports nothing created, because every record is already here.

Rerun behaviour

The supported rerun is the same Appearance → Import Demo Data → Import Demo Data → Continue & Import route, not the development seed command. Release verification must prove that stable keys and slugs update rather than duplicate and that one copy of each Northline record remains. Content you create without the Northline marker is outside the import scope.

Reset safely

Go to Appearance → Demo reset. Review the Reset preview counts, type RESET NORTHLINE exactly, then choose Permanently remove Northline demo content. The reset handler requires an administrator, a valid security nonce and that exact phrase. It removes only records marked by the Northline importer, removes only now-unused marked education terms and restores the saved pre-import site options. It does not remove users, themes, plugins or unmarked pages, posts, programs, people or media.

The marker, not the run, is what the reset selects on. It removes every record carrying the Northline importer's marker, whenever it arrived — not only the records the most recent import added. If you imported twice, or imported months ago and again last week, one reset takes all of it. The Reset preview counts on that screen are the exact list of what will go, so read them before you type the phrase.

The reset does not restore WordPress's sample post and page. If you want Hello world! and Sample Page back after a reset, take them out of the bin yourself.

Always take a backup anyway. A reset is deliberately scoped, but deleting demo content is destructive.

Replace demo facts

Northline, all people, credentials, statements, addresses and testimonials are fictional. Replace every example.com action URL with the real HTTPS destination operated by your registration or consultation provider. Do not publish a qualification, price, accreditation, availability or outcome claim unless your organisation can substantiate it.
