Demo import and reset

Northline Learning Studio is one complete demo: a fictional school with two sites in the city of Valmera, Northline Central on Linden Passage and the Riverside Room on Mill Quay. It is one demo with three homes — Studio, Training and College — and fifteen inner pages, all on one set of records.

The import creates 23 programs, 6 instructors, 27 dated sessions (24 open, one closed and two that have already run), 11 admissions deadlines (10 reviewed and shown on the public lists, and one imported without a current review, so you can see that such a deadline stays off every public page), 4 departments, 2 campuses, 8 delivery options, 6 resource posts, their subjects, levels, formats and locations, the three homes, the fifteen inner pages and a privacy policy page. Every program but one has a next date and a price; the exception, After-School Maths Studio, starts with a consultation, so you can see how a program with no published date or fee reads.

The imported Site Title is Lumina Edu. The header and footer print the editable Site Title, so both show the same name; change it under Settings → General. Northline Learning Studio is only the fictional school the demo's pages describe.

Before importing

Import Northline from the dashboard

  1. Go to Appearance → Import Demo Data.
  2. With the Northline demo visible, choose Import Demo Data.
  3. Review the importer screen, then choose Continue & Import. Leave the tab open until One Click Demo Import reports Import Complete!
  4. Open the three homes, Programs, Instructors and Sessions before replacing the fictional facts.

Those labels are from One Click Demo Import 3.4.1, the version this release was tested with. The import sets Home (the Studio home) as the front page and Resources as the posts page, and sets the site timezone (see below). It does not create users, payment records or real registrations. The header prints its menu from the pages that exist, so it is complete as soon as the pages are.

The demo's photographs

The demo uses sixty photographs. They are AI-generated, hosted by tailthemes.com under https://tailthemes.com/wordpress/demo/lumina-edu/v3/, and fetched by the importer into your Media Library while it runs. None of them is inside the theme, the plugin or the download package. They are there so the demo looks like the demo: replace them with your own before you launch. Photographs says where each one is set.

If a photograph cannot be downloaded, the text content still imports and the theme draws its own stand-in plate in that slot instead of a broken image. Run the import again once the connection works; the missing files are fetched.

Fourteen programs, four departments, both campuses and five of the six instructors carry photographs. Nine programs, one instructor (Ana Duarte) and one resource post have none, on purpose, so you can see the monogram and the plain slot before you add your own pictures.

Dates in the demo are relative to your import day

Session dates, post dates and admissions deadlines are not fixed calendar dates. Each is stored as a distance from the day of import, so on the day you import, the demo shows sessions starting in the next few weeks, a closed one and a couple that have already run, whatever the date. A weekly session also keeps its weekday: a group labelled Tuesdays · 18:30–20:00 starts on a Tuesday, whichever day of the week you import on. Once imported they are ordinary dates and stay as they are: a session imported as "in 11 days" is a real date that will pass, and when it does, its row leaves the page on its own.

The import sets the site timezone to Europe/Bucharest, the fictional school's own, so the demo's times read correctly. Set your own under Settings → General → Timezone after the import; the demo reset restores the timezone you had before.

Lumina Edu never changes a session's status by itself. When a demo date passes, the session keeps the status it was imported with until you edit it; the Programs → Sessions list flags any open session whose date has passed. Open, Closed and Past are labels you set, not a count of free places: Lumina Edu never claims a seat is available.

What the import does to WordPress's own sample content

A fresh WordPress ships with one sample post, Hello world!, and one sample page, Sample Page. The importer moves both to the bin, so the demo's own posts are not sitting beside content nobody wrote. It does this only while they are untouched: the original post with its installed slug, still published, and never edited. Rename one, edit one, or publish over one, and it is yours and stays. Nothing is deleted outright — both sit in the bin until you empty it. WordPress's own draft Privacy Policy page goes the same way while untouched, so the demo's privacy page takes its address. That page is a sample written for Northline: replace it with your own policy before launch.

The import result on the dashboard says how many of the two were moved, along with its other counts: records created, updated, skipped because this site already had them, and failed.

Importing again

Run the same route again: Appearance → Import Demo Data → Import Demo Data → Continue & Import. A second import updates the Northline records already on the site instead of duplicating them. Content you created yourself is not touched.

Reset safely

Go to Appearance → Demo reset. Review the Reset preview counts, type RESET NORTHLINE exactly, then choose Permanently remove Northline demo content. The reset requires an administrator, a valid security check and that exact phrase. It removes only records marked by the Northline importer, removes only now-unused marked education terms and restores the saved pre-import site options. It does not remove users, themes, plugins or unmarked pages, posts, programs, people or media.

The marker, not the run, is what the reset selects on. It removes every record carrying the Northline importer's marker, whenever it arrived. If you imported twice, one reset takes all of it. The Reset preview counts are the exact list of what will go, so read them before you type the phrase.

The reset does not restore WordPress's sample post and page. Take them out of the bin yourself if you want them back. Take a backup anyway: a reset is scoped, but deleting content is destructive.

Replace the demo's facts

Northline and all its people, credentials, statements, addresses and telephone numbers are fictional — including the instructors' qualifications, which are written as a real school would write them. Replace them with your own before launch. Do not publish a qualification, price, accreditation, availability or outcome claim unless your organisation can stand behind it.

The demo carries no testimonials, ratings or outcome figures. The counts a page prints (programs, tutors, sites, the next start) are read from your own records.

Check every destination before launch

After the import, every Register on Northline Bookings, Book a consultation and Request information action, the contact, mailing-list and directions links, each department's Department website and Contact the department links and each campus's Ask about this campus link point at an address that starts https://example.com/?lumina-edu-demo=. Those open example.com and register, book or send nothing. Replace every one with your real service address before launch, or empty the field: an empty destination shows no button at all.

Use the Before you go live step in Appearance → Getting started, and look at the pages while logged out. A link that opens is not a working workflow: submit a test enquiry and find it in your form plugin, complete a test booking and check its record and confirmation.

The contact page's enquiry panel shows a form only when you choose one in Settings → Site details (see Site details). Until then it points at the contact address.

The live preview

The live preview at https://preview.tailthemes.com/lumina-edu/ is a real WordPress site installed from the release zips and this demo. It is reset regularly. Its enquiry form is a real Contact Form 7 form: an enquiry sent there is stored, no email is sent, and the next reset clears it. That setup belongs to the preview, not to the import: on your site you connect your own form and mail.
