What is included, and what is not

Licence and updates

Table and Type is sold on tailthemes.com. The price is set on the store page.

What the licence gives you is the download, the support and the updates. "One site" is a term of the sale and scopes those two; nothing on your site counts installations or checks a key.

How updates reach you:

• The companion plugin updates from Dashboard › Updates, like any plugin. See how it checks.
• The theme is updated by downloading the current package from tailthemes.com/account and uploading the new table-and-type.zip over the installed one. See the steps.

Your licence key is in the licence mail and on your account page. Quote it when you write to us.

Support policy

Before you write, have these ready: your WordPress version, your PHP version (both at Tools › Site Health › Info), the theme and plugin versions, whether the problem survives deactivating every other plugin, the page address, and what you expected to see instead. Remove passwords and anyone's personal data from anything you paste.

A reported accessibility barrier, a broken RTL layout and a security issue are all treated as bugs, not as support questions.

Changelog

The full changelog also ships as changelog.txt in your download and as the == Changelog == section of the theme's readme.txt. Releases that contain a security fix are labelled Security.

1.2.4 — 1 October 2026

A patch to 1.2.3, for one console message in Firefox. Nothing you see changes.

Fixed

• Today's card's photograph runs the height of the card beside it, so it is drawn about three times wider than its column. The page asked for the photograph at the column's width, and the theme's photograph script then asked again at the drawn width, sometimes while the browser was still fetching the first file. Firefox reported the dropped file as "Image corrupt or truncated" in its console (the picture itself was never damaged). The page now asks for Today's card's photograph, and the footer's strip of photographs, at the width they are drawn at from the start, and the script never changes a request that is under way: it asks for a larger file only before the browser has asked for any, or once the first has arrived and turns out too small for its frame.

Changed

• The browsers line in Installation now holds for all six projects the theme is read in: Chrome and Edge, Firefox and Safari on a desktop, and Chrome, Firefox and Safari on a phone.

1.2.3 — 1 October 2026

A patch to 1.2.2. Nothing you see changes; what the page holds behind it does.

Fixed

• The slip over each home's photograph and the booking band's row of evenings carry a few spares for later: the next slip, for when the first comes down, and a second week of evenings, for a page that is read days after it was built. They arrive outside the page and, until now, were moved into it, hidden, as soon as the page loaded, so a search engine or a translation tool read three slips where a visitor sees one and fourteen evenings where the band shows seven. They now stay out of the page until their turn comes, and go back out when it has passed.

Changed

• For developers: Table and Type Core's clock, table_and_type_core_now(), passes its answer through the table_and_type_core_now filter. It exists so a test site can read the page a visitor gets at another hour; on your site the Clock setting in Settings › Site details is still the switch, and you do not need the filter.
• The theme was checked against its plugin-off stand-ins at breakfast, lunch, the afternoon, dinner, after the last service and a week on, instead of at lunchtime only.

1.2.2 — 1 October 2026

A patch to 1.2.1: the red Today's changes band on the three homes keeps one layout whatever the hour. Nothing in your content changes.

Changed

• Today's changes is a heading column beside the pass's rail. The heading, its line and a photograph of the tape and slips stand on the left; on the right a rail runs across the band with a place for three slips, and the day's slips hang from it at one width. In 1.2.1 the slips were the band's own columns: once the soup came down after lunch the band became two columns and looked like the band beside it, and on a day with no slip it was a single line. Now three slips at breakfast, two in the afternoon, one at dinner and none on a quiet day all read as the same band, the rail's empty places standing where a slip has come down. On a tablet the heading and the photograph sit side by side above the rail; on a phone the slips stack under it.
• The documentation says which browsers the theme was read in, and how: Chrome and Edge (Chromium 153), Firefox 155 and Safari 26 (WebKit), on a desktop at 1440px and a phone at 390px, in both colour schemes, every page and the booking, the menu filter, a slip coming down on its minute, the phone's menu and the colour-scheme toggle (Installation).

Fixed

• The script that asks each cropped photograph for a file as large as it is drawn now measures a frame later, so a new size can never land while the browser is still reporting the last resize. Safari reports that case as a console error; none was seen on this theme's demo, and the pictures are chosen exactly as before.

1.2.1 — 30 September 2026

A patch to 1.2.0: three layout faults found in the gallery captures, their relatives, and one line that now reads your hours. Nothing in your content changes.

Added

• The about page's day room prints the hours your door keeps on most days of the week, read from your hours, as the evening room already prints souper's. With Table and Type Core off it prints the hours typed in the pattern. The hours binding has a new field for this, door_range, which any paragraph can use (Where everything comes from).

Fixed

• The photograph beside today's card was drawn at nearly three times its pixels, and its column stood 1,500px tall whatever the card's length, leaving an empty field under the card. The column now runs the card's height, as intended, and the photograph is fetched at the size it is drawn. The bakery home's counter photograph beside the bakes had the same fault, and the same fix.
• Every photograph that its frame crops (a 3:2 picture in a portrait or square frame, a cover band on a phone) now asks the browser for a file as large as it is drawn, instead of one as large as the frame is wide. The theme's first script does this, assets/js/sizes.js, and the home's hero photograph is asked for at its drawn width on the server. Without JavaScript nothing breaks; the pictures are only softer.
• After dark, on the visit and contact pages: the night photograph fills its frame instead of hanging past it, so its crop is centred again.
• The booking form between 1024 and about 1280px wide: beside the photograph its column is too narrow for guests and times side by side, and the times were squeezed to 18px tiles with "09:00" set over three lines. The times now take their own row when the form is narrow, and the seven days scroll sideways where they would not fit.
• An hours figure such as "07:30 – 11:00" could break after its dash, so a wrapped line began on a space (the walk-in rows on the booking page, the service tiles on the homes at 1024, the card's hours on a phone). The figure no longer breaks anywhere.

1.2.0 — 30 September 2026

The redesign. The content model is the one you have: dishes, services, hours, slips, booking rows and site details are untouched, and a site on 1.1.1 keeps the pages it has. The header and the footer take the new design unless you saved your own; everything else new is offered as patterns and as the demo.

Added

• Three home pages on one demo, each a page pattern you can insert on its own: the all-day café, the bakery-café led by the counter and the bakes, and the evening bistro that opens dark.
• Thirteen inner pages, each opening on a title banner with a photograph or the night band, the page title, one line and a breadcrumb: the card, drinks and the grinder, visit, book, groups and private dining, the kitchen, about the house, the journal and its two category pages, a journal note, questions, contact and notices. The 404 page is designed the same way.
• A new header — Menu, Visit, Book, The kitchen, Journal and About, the open line and the telephone, and Book a table as a bordered button — and a new footer in four columns with a strip of photographs of the room and the wordmark set large.
• Two more band tones, night and linen, in the light and the dark scheme and in all three presets.
• On a site with Table and Type Core active, the home bands are today's. The slip taped over the hero is the newest slip that is live, and when there is none the slip is simply not there. Today's changes shows up to the three newest live slips, each with its photograph, and says in one quiet line when nothing has changed. The served card, the line naming what is not served today, the visit band's hours for today, each service's days and hours, the line naming the days you open, the day strip on the book band and the two coffees on the grinder all read your records.
• A service's schedule is bound on the inner pages as well: the two stamps and the walk-in rows on the booking page, the evening room's stamp on the about page, the hours in the visit page's table of laptop rules and the nights and last order in "After dark" on the visit and contact pages print the service's own days and hours, so a changed service is not left stale on another page. With the plugin off they print the typed schedule.
• The card's banner carries the day's newest slip too, in the same kind of slot as a hero's, and the drinks page's two "On since" rows print the day each coffee went on.
• In the editor, a line that reads a record — a service's days and hours, a coffee's date, a featured dish — shows the record, as the page does, not the name of where it comes from.
• A slip can carry a photograph: set its featured image and Today's changes prints it.
• A cached page stays true. The page is served with each slip's window and the week's schedule printed in it, and the hour is worked out again in the visitor's browser, in your site's own timezone; an expired slip comes down without anybody clearing a cache.
• A photograph for every service and every section of the card, and a Featured switch on a dish: the four featured dishes are the four plates set large above the card.
• A byline on a journal note, so a note can be signed by the person who wrote it.
• Motion: bands and photographs rise into place as they are reached, photographs answer the pointer with a slow zoom, and the full-width photographs drift a little as the page scrolls. It is CSS only, and under "reduce motion" everything is already in place and nothing moves.
• A new demo photograph set: sixty photographs of one room from morning to night. They are fetched from our server when you import the demo and are not inside the download.

Changed

• The card is rebuilt: a photograph over each section, the four plates, and souper on the night ground. The index at its head links each service by name.
• With the plugin off, the home bands show typed stand-ins that name no weekday and no date: "Today" and the hours, the services by name and time. They are yours to edit by hand. The static copies the theme draws for the plugin's blocks carry no date stamp either, and mark no day of the week as today.
• The same holds on the inner pages: the static card, the hours card and the booking card type no date on a slip, the card says "last changed this week", today's line is its hours alone and the espresso's description no longer names a weekday. A schedule still names its days.
• Only a page's first photograph loads at once; every other one waits until it is near the screen. The photograph beside the served card and the four plates above the card keep their responsive sizes whichever record chooses them.
• The slips behind a hero's one sheet, and the spare week behind the booking days, are no longer in the page as hidden elements: a search engine or a translation tool reads what a visitor is shown, and no more.
• The demo's three slips for the day are up from its first minute, so a site that imports the demo early in the morning does not open on an empty board.
• The booking band on the homes no longer types seven dates. With the plugin it prints the next seven days the evening service runs; without it, one sentence that leads to the booking page.
• With "Keep a copy of each enquiry on this site" ticked, the copy is written before the mail is tried. A host whose mail is broken loses no enquiry: the visitor sees the receipt, and the record says its mail did not go. Copies are never included in an export.
• The enquiry form never sends mail to a reserved example address (.example, .test and the like), and does not offer one as a way to write.
• The licence line names tailthemes.com, where the theme is sold.

Fixed

• The theme's own home sections printed a fixed date — "Wed 16 Sep", "Today, Wednesday" — whatever the day was. With the plugin they are the day's; without it they claim no day at all.
• The demo's lunch card no longer ends in a Desserts section of one row: the palmier is served at lunch beside the tarte Tatin.
• On an imported demo the enquiry form ended in "could not be sent", because the demo's addresses are example ones. The demo now keeps a copy of each enquiry, so the form ends in its receipt and the enquiry is listed under Enquiries.
• An imported demo keeps what it was built with: photographs keep their place in the pages that use them, the header finds its menu, and saved header and footer follow the active theme, a child theme included.
• A dish added with a position keeps that position on the card.
• The footer's week and address print once, not once as yours and once as the theme's example.
• On the card, the services behind the other tabs can be found with the browser's find box and reached by a link to one of their dishes; they were hidden from both.
• The three journal cards on a home and under a post stay three when a post is pinned. A sticky post was put in front of them as a fourth card, out of date order; it now takes its place by date there, and stays pinned on the journal page itself.

Security

1.1.1 — 27 September 2026

Changed

• The documentation lists Reef Bookings among what the download includes, states a 48-hour support response time, and no longer says the plugin screen offers Polylang, which it does not.

Fixed

• The booking seam's "Write to us" action opened a mail to a reserved example address. Like the footer's and the find-us section's addresses, it now ships behind a link the owner points at their own mailbox.
• Table and Type Core told the update check it was version 1.0.1, so a site already on 1.1.0 was offered 1.1.0 again, and the plugin's scripts and styles carried the old version as their cache key. It reports the version it is.
• An imported demo sent booking mail. The documentation said the demo ships with Reef Bookings' mail switched off, and the seed did switch it off, but a setting travels in no demo file, so an import fell back to sending — to whatever address was typed into a demonstration of a café that does not exist. With Reef Bookings active, the import now sets its mail to none and gives the room the demo's telephone number, each only if the owner has not set one.
• The booking form's fields ran 26 pixels past their column at every width, into the card's padding on a desktop and into the page gutter on a phone. They are measured to their column.

1.1.0 — 21 September 2026

Added

• The booking page takes a table when Reef Bookings is installed and a room is described: a service chooser, the next seven days that service runs, a party stepper, and the times it can seat with the full ones struck through rather than hidden.
• A request is read back as a docket — reference, service, day, time, guests, how long it is held, and that no card was taken.
• The demo describes Mireille's room, so the booking page books out of the box.

Changed

• The reading measure is the measure it claims: prose, notices, card notes and the style guide's own specimens no longer run a third past it.
• The page gutter is the two the design draws, 20px and 56px, with no third step between them.
• The hero's scrim is painted where the words inherit it, so the lockup measures against the ink under it rather than against the page.
• Booking copy no longer calls the destination "our partner" anywhere a visitor reads: the seam names the host it is sending you to, which may be the cafe's own page.

Fixed

• A comments heading no longer leaks the browser's own margin into the seam above the section.
• A disclosure's chevron sits inside its control rather than two pixels outside it.
• Folder tabs share one height when a label wraps.
• A record row's answer wraps instead of being crushed against its mark at tablet widths.
• The style guide described a hero with no scrim, next to a hero with one.
• An imported demo showed two clocks: the theme printed its hours in 24-hour time and anything that asked WordPress printed "9:00 am" beside it, because a demo file cannot carry a setting. The demo now states its own time and date format and the import applies them.

Credits

Every font, image and icon inside the download, with its licence and its source, and the demo media that is not inside it. Both lists are generated from the product's own asset manifest; they are not maintained by hand.

Not included in the download

The demo's 60 photographs and 2 drawings are AI-generated, are hosted on our server, and are fetched by the demo importer at import time. They are not inside any zip and they are not part of what your licence lets you reuse. Replace them with your own images before you launch.

All 62 are © Tailthemes. The photographs were generated with Gemini; each one's prompt, tool and review are recorded with the product's asset manifest.

Mireille, its people, its address and its telephone number are fictional demo content, not claims about a real business.

Licences

The theme, the child theme and the companion plugin are released under the GNU General Public License v2 or later. The GPL text ships in licensing/ in your download.

The three font families are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits redistribution; each family's licence text sits beside its file in assets/fonts/.
